Fela! A New Musical
For those of you who are not on your Fela Kuti shit, your'e missing out on some AMAZING music. Basically the show is a rough guide to his life and times, chronicling how he pioneered Afro-beat and used his music to speak out against British Colonial rule in Nigeria. Fela Kuti also know as "Black President" reached audiences not only in Logos, Nigeria, but all around the world. I definetely want to check this out.

Don't Hate, Congratulate!
Battle of the Latinas! lol
Eva Mendes bluntly states in Es Magazine when being compared to Jennifer Lopez:
"I would like to think I will have a more serious career than J-Lo. We may both be of Latin origin but that’s where the comparisons stop. She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible".
Bitch is hatin! Both actresses always play the same kind of roles so i don't understand why Eva's getting big headed. Maybe she's mad that J.Lo is more about making that cheese, her own clothing line and perfume. There's nothin wrong with that! No hateration please!

unique way to bond
McCain sued for hate speech
a grandma in kansas city is suing john mccain, sarah palin, and mccain's campaign manager for promtoing hate speech.
Her lawsuit claims McCain's campaign "intentionally, recklessly and irresponsibly portrayed presidential candidate Barack Obama as un-American, a terrorist by association, and "not like us," a non-white individual. she says, "It will be dismissed as soon as I hear these public statements from these two candidates that they abhor these death threats and they will not tolerate these intruders in their audiences,".
she also accuses Palin of working a crowd at a rally into a frenzy "causing them to make death threats against presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Barack Obama with her audiences shouting "kill him," "off with his head," "terrorist," "Muslim terrorist."
Obama wants the lawsuit dropped.

i doubt that the mccain/palin would attempt to even promote hate and prejudice throughout their campaign...but hey, you never know.

Uganda takes big step in women's rights
a community in eastern Uganda has finally banned the practice of female genital mutilation. a community leader has spoken out and said it was "outmoded" and "not useful" for the women. The Sabiny are the only group in Uganda who still practice FGM, which is the practice of cutting off a young girl's clitoris. there was a local belief that said women who married uncircumcised, would be stricken by illness. in Africa, about three million girls are at risk of FGM each year, according to the UN.
they say it leads to bleeding, shock, infections and a higher rate of death for new-born babies.
this is a big milestone for women's rights in Africa. about time they got rid of this horrific practice.

i beg to differ
"JERUSALEM, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- A Lebanese business group plans to sue Israel in an international court, claiming its neighbor has stolen foods that are not its own, like hummus and felafel.
The Association of Lebanese Industrialists say that Israel, by marketing its own brands of the traditional dishes, is costing its members millions of dollars a year, The Independent reported.
The action does have a precedent. In 2005, the European Court ruled that only feta cheese made in Greece can use the name."
great example of people sueing over the dumbest shit.

Woman charged with stalking Lakers' Luke Walton
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. - A woman has been charged with stalking Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton. Stacy Elizabeth Beshear of El Segundo was arrested Sept. 18 after she pulled up to his car and pretended to fire gunshots at him with her hand, police Sgt. Steve Tobias said.
The 34-year-old Beshear has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor count of stalking. A Nov. 6 trial date has been set in the case. She faces up to a year in county jail if convicted, district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said Tuesday.
A phone number for Beshear was not in service.
Walton said Beshear has been harassing him since late last year. He told the Orange County Register she waited outside his Manhattan Beach home numerous times and wrote on his car with a marker after he refused to sign an autograph.
"When she pulled up to my house and started yelling at me after she fired a fake gun at me, I couldn't help but to start yelling back at her," Walton said. "She was in my driveway. But when we were interacting, I could tell by the stuff she was saying that she's not all there in the head — which makes me feel bad for her.
"At the same time, most people who go on killing sprees are people who aren't all there in the head."
if this was 2 years ago and i wasn't "all in the head"...i probably would of done the same. hahahaha. sike!

chinese muslims released from guantanamo bay
WASHINGTON - A federal judge ordered the Bush administration Tuesday to immediately free 17 Chinese Muslims from Guantanamo Bay into the United States, rebuking the government in a landmark decision that could set the stage for the release of dozens other prisoners in Cuba.
read rest of story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081007/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/guantanamo_chinese_detainee;_ylt=Ascw9QL_tHsjRGvNVl0ErKwZO7gF
keeping these people locked up is unlawful and wrong. they are not a "threat" to our country like the fucking government says. guantanamo bay is just a cover-up to "show" the american people that George Bush took action against 9/11. he accomplished that by throwing in whoever was a muslim at the time. my sympathy goes out to all the families who didn't see these men for 7 years...all without a justified cause.
